Projects for adults
Under the motto "Everyone's talking about the forest, we're going!", the first Bergwaldprojekt week took place in 1987, in the wake of the debate about the death of forests. Today, this volunteer commitment is more important than ever: mountain forests are under increasing pressure. Climate change, the increasing frequency of extreme events and structural changes in mountain regions are threatening its stability, while the demands placed on it as a protective forest, habitat, CO₂ reservoir and recreation area continue to grow.
In Bergwaldprojekt weeks, volunteers are actively engaged in protecting, maintaining and preserving the mountain forest. Under the guidance of experts, they take part in forestry activities as a group, discovering the mountain forest up close and making an important contribution to preserving its many benefits. Working together also fosters personal and ecological awareness.
