Drought: How Climate Change Is Affecting Switzerland's Forests

Drought is one of the biggest challenges facing Swiss forests. Climate change is leading to an increase in heat waves and prolonged dry spells.

The consequences are clearly visible: Trees are experiencing water stress, growing more slowly, and becoming more susceptible to pests such as bark beetles, as well as to diseases and wildfires, as is currently the case above Locarno in Ticino.

"Bun enfin miserabel" Bertilla Giossi wins Schutzwaldpreis Helvetia 2026

In March, the Alpine Forestry Association ARGE once again honored the best projects relating to the protection forest. Bertilla Giossi won the award in the Press Relations category with her film "Bun enfin miserabel - i stan dal guaud grischun".

"Good to bad - the state of the Grisons forest" is the title of Bertilla Giossi's film, which was produced by RTR Cuntrasts. In the film, she takes viewers into the forest and lets them experience what happens if the protective forest is left to its own devices for too long.
