Volunteers needed for the protection of the mountain forest
The Bergwaldprojekt is looking for committed volunteers who would like to actively contribute to the preservation of the mountain forest during project weeks. Every year, the Bergwaldprojekt organizes around 180 assignments at over 50 locations in Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Montafon. Volunteers are invited to actively participate in measures to promote biodiversity, sustainable maintenance and stabilization of the mountain forest under expert guidance.
The mountain forest: indispensable and under threat
The mountain forest is indispensable. It protects us from natural hazards such as avalanches, rockfalls and floods. These vital protective functions benefit not only the mountain regions, but also the cities and the entire country. However, the future of mountain forests is under threat. Climate change and increasing pressure are jeopardizing its stability and the vital services it provides for people and nature. To make the mountain forest more resilient and prepare it for future challenges, the Bergwaldprojekt relies on targeted measures to promote biodiversity and continuous maintenance.
Join in and strengthen the mountain forest
Through their active participation, the volunteers experience the mountain forest from a deeper perspective: under expert guidance, they not only make a direct contribution to its preservation, but also train their understanding of the interrelationships in nature. Overnight stays are in simple accommodation directly in the area and meals are regional, seasonal and organic. The project weeks are not only open to individuals - families, school classes, companies and groups can also get involved.
The 2026 annual program is online and registration is open. Interested parties can find out about the projects and register directly on the website www.bergwaldprojekt.ch.
