Bergwaldprojekt - Volunteering in the mountain forest

Since 1987, the Bergwaldprojekt has been committed to the protection, care and preservation of forests and cultural landscapes in mountain regions. Together with volunteers, the organization strengthens the resilience of the mountain forest, promotes biodiversity and helps to preserve its diverse services for future generations.

Bergwaldprojekt

The Bergwaldprojekt is a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection, care and preservation of forests and cultural landscapes in mountain areas.

Bergwaldprojekt International

The wide-ranging contexts of the mountain forest and an international audience from the very beginning show that the mountain forest idea knows no borders. As early as the 1990s, the idea was therefore brought from Switzerland to Germany and Austria, and later also to Catalonia.

The mountain forest

From time immemorial, we have depended on the mountain forest as a protective forest. It protects us from avalanches, rockfall, erosion and floods. At the same time, it serves as a habitat for numerous animal and plant species, as a recreational area and as a source of wood. As an important carbon sink and supplier of clean air, it also plays a crucial role in the fight against climate change.
